The Armiger is an Orthodox Deacon and Catechism Teacher from Belgrade – Serbia; The Herald of The Princely Branch of The Serbian Royal Family Karageorgevich; Heraldry Consultant and Consultants Team Member of The Fórum Democracia Real; Managing Director of The Center for Research of Orthodox Monarchism and President of it’s Board for Heraldic and Genealogical Studes; Associate Fellow of the International Association of Amateur Heralds; Associate of The Magazine “Glas Heralda”...

Arms were assumed by the Armiger’s father and other two heads of the branches of the Jovanovich-Djakovatz-Popov Family in December 2004. According the Serbian heraldic tradition, the same coat of arms is used by all of the male descendants of the Jovanovich-Djakovatz-Popov Family, who share a common ancestor - Very Reverend Protoprezbyter Fr Djordje Jovanovich, who was the last in the centuries long line of Priests from this Family.

The Cross Gules is a reminder of the Family Patron Saint – Great Martyr George. The twenty-one Crosses paty convexed (commonly refered to as The Kosovo Cross) symbolize as many ancestors who were Orthodox Priests in the Parish of Nishka Kamenitza. The jewelled chalice Or in the crest has the same significance, and also alludes both to Family history and the calling of the Armiger.

The arms are registered in the name of Rev. Fr. Nenad M. Jovanovich, and later on four additional versions were designed for his wife Dipl.vet. Jasmina S. Jovanovich, his son Djordje N. Jovanovich No75 and his twin daughters Kosara N. Jovanovich and Ksenija N. Jovanovich.

The Clerical version of Armigers coat of arms was assumed following his ordination and with the blessing and approval of His Eminent Grace Episcope of Australia and New Zealand Lord Irinej (Dobrijevich).

The Ecclesiastical arms are in the correct tradition of a Deacon in the Orthodox Church, using the shield from the family arms and surrounding it with the orarion of a Deacon and toped off with the kamilavkion of Deacon - his rank in the Clergy.

The original design of the arms of Jovanovich-Djakovatz-Popov includes a helm and crest which, although not used by the Armiger because he is a serving Clergyman, is available for use by his heraldic heirs in perpetuity.
